Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins commended the team’s aggressive batting approach after their 33-run win against Punjab Kings in the IPL 2026, propelling them to the top of the points table. Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan’s attacking half-centuries, coupled with some luck from dropped catches, led SRH to a formidable total of 235/4. Despite Cooper Connolly’s impressive century for Punjab Kings, Cummins’ disciplined bowling secured the victory for SRH.
Cummins highlighted the team’s batting prowess, expressing satisfaction in the players’ form and the cohesive atmosphere within the group. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head set the stage with a quick start, while Klaasen and Kishan dominated the middle overs with their aggressive batting. Kishan, benefiting from multiple chances, scored 55, and Klaasen’s 69 ensured SRH crossed the 200-run mark comfortably.
Giving credit to Ishan Kishan, who led the team in his absence, Cummins humorously mentioned his return after witnessing the team’s success under Kishan’s captaincy. Despite early setbacks, Punjab Kings’ chase faltered as SRH’s bowlers, including Cummins and Nitish Kumar Reddy, maintained control. Even with Connolly’s resilient 107, Punjab Kings fell short, managing only 202/7 in their 20 overs.
With this victory, SRH now has 12 points from 11 matches and will face the Gujarat Titans on May 12 after a brief break.
