Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by vice-captain Ishan Kishan’s impressive 74 runs, secured a remarkable five-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The Sunrisers successfully chased down the challenging target of 229 runs in just 18.3 overs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals posted a competitive total of 228/6 in 20 overs, with 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shining with a century and Dhruv Jurel contributing a half-century. Despite a shaky start losing opener Travis Head early, Sunrisers Hyderabad recovered well with Kishan’s aggressive batting and Abhishek Sharma’s valuable contributions.
Kishan’s partnership with Abhishek Sharma, who scored a quick 57 off 29 balls, put immense pressure on the Rajasthan Royals bowlers. Kishan’s explosive innings of 74 off 31 deliveries was pivotal in guiding Sunrisers Hyderabad towards victory. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Heinrich Klaasen also played crucial roles in the successful run chase.
Salil Arora’s finishing touches with a six ensured Sunrisers Hyderabad reached the target with nine balls to spare, sealing a memorable win. Rajasthan Royals, despite a strong start powered by Sooryavanshi’s century, fell short in defending their total against a determined Sunrisers Hyderabad side.
