Former Indian fast bowlers VRV Singh and Lakshmipathy Balaji are being considered for coaching positions at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. The CoE has been without a full-time fast bowling coach since Troy Cooley’s departure last year due to reaching the superannuation age. The BCCI had looked into hiring another foreign expert, including discussions with England’s fast bowling coach Steffan Jones.
Indian coaches, including VRV Singh and Lakshmipathy Balaji, are now shortlisted to fill the coaching vacancies at the CoE. P. Krishnakumar, who recently led Jammu and Kashmir to their first-ever Ranji Trophy victory as the team’s bowling coach, is also in contention to be the third fast bowling coach at the CoE. Yere Goud, a former Karnataka all-rounder, is expected to join as a batting coach.
In addition to Singh, Balaji, and Krishnakumar, other potential coaching additions at the CoE include Sunetra Paranjpe, Nooshin Al Khadeer, and VR Vanitha. Dishant Yagnik, former Rajasthan wicketkeeper and current fielding coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), is among those shortlisted for fielding coach roles. Milap Mewada and Shabarish Mohan are also in consideration for fielding coach positions.
The selection process for performance analyst, head of education, and head of sports science and medical team roles at the CoE is still ongoing and the final decisions have not been announced yet.
