The Supreme Court has named former Chief Justice of India D.Y. Chandrachud as a mediator to settle the ongoing family disagreement between Rani Kapur and Priya Sachdev Kapur regarding the RK Family Trust associated with the Sona Group estate. A Bench of Justices J.B. Pardiwala and Ujjal Bhuyan issued the order following an agreement from all parties to seek a resolution through mediation.
Emphasizing the private nature of the matter, the apex court urged the involved parties to refrain from making public statements or discussing the dispute on social media. The mediation process will focus solely on resolving the family members’ disagreements, as stated by the Justice Pardiwala-led Bench, aiming to bring closure to the issue.
The court specified that it anticipates an initial report from the mediator before proceeding further with the case, scheduling a hearing for August. The dispute revolves around the establishment and management of the RK Family Trust/Rani Kapur Family Trust, contested by 80-year-old Rani Kapur as fraudulent and unauthorized.
