The Supreme Court declined to grant bail to YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, accused of espionage and sharing sensitive information with Pakistani intelligence. Malhotra, facing charges under the Official Secrets Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, will remain in custody following the court’s decision. This refusal comes after the Punjab and Haryana High Court previously rejected her bail plea in March.
Malhotra’s alleged involvement in anti-national activities and sharing sensitive data with Pakistan led to the denial of her bail plea. Investigations revealed her interactions with Pakistani intelligence officials and the transmission of strategic information. The prosecution highlighted her communication through social media platforms and sharing of location details with Pakistani operatives.
The Haryana Police’s Special Investigation Team opposed Malhotra’s bail plea, citing preferential treatment for obtaining a Pakistan visa and secret communications with intelligence personnel. Despite her claims of being falsely implicated and the investigation being concluded, the court found substantial evidence linking her to espionage activities. The case, originating from an FIR in Hisar in 2025, has seen a detailed chargesheet filed against Malhotra.
