The Supreme Court paused the Himachal Pradesh High Court’s directive to file FIRs and set up a Special Investigation Team against three senior district officials linked to alleged rave parties in Kasol. The court upheld the immediate transfer of the officials but put a hold on the order for FIR registration and SIT formation. The affected officers filed special leave petitions, with the matter scheduled for August 10.

The High Court’s June 24 order mandated the transfer of Kullu Deputy Commissioner Anurag Chander Sharma, Superintendent of Police Kullu Madan Lal, and the relevant SDM. It also called for FIR registration, SIT establishment under a Deputy Inspector General of Police, and departmental proceedings. The case involved drug abuse and illegal rave parties in Kasol, Jibhi, Manali, and other Kullu areas.

Observing a lack of action by the district administration and police, the Himachal Pradesh High Court criticized the officials for allegedly enabling large-scale rave parties. The court highlighted instances of unauthorized liquor service and suspected narcotic substance use at party venues near Kasol. The court emphasized the need for immediate transfers to ensure a fair inquiry into the matter.
