The Supreme Court has instructed the Director of AIIMS to form a medical board within a week to evaluate self-styled godman Asaram Bapu’s health condition. This assessment is in connection with his request for interim bail on medical grounds. The court emphasized that a decision on bail would be made based on the medical board’s report.

Asaram’s counsel has urged for a specialized team of doctors from AIIMS to conduct a thorough medical examination to determine if hospitalization is necessary. The Rajasthan government, represented by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, has raised doubts about the authenticity of Asaram’s medical claims. Mehta pointed out Asaram’s recent activities, questioning the validity of his medical condition.

The apex court clarified that it will not consider granting interim bail without an independent medical evaluation. It directed AIIMS to establish the medical board promptly and submit a detailed report within a week. The court had previously requested the Rajasthan government to review Asaram’s medical records to assess the need for interim bail on medical grounds.
