NCP (SP) Working President Supriya Sule expressed dismay over the alleged manhandling of Maharashtra Minister Shambhuraj Desai during the Satara Zilla Parishad election, calling it a tragic incident for the state. Sule emphasized that the police’s actions were influenced by an unseen power, terming it a blow to democracy in Maharashtra.

Sule announced her intention to address the Chief Minister regarding the incident and conferred with senior BJP leaders following media reports in Delhi. She criticized the event as an assault on democracy, stressing the need for adherence to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s constitutional principles. Sule highlighted the police’s role as mere instruments of external forces.

Describing the incident as a threat to democracy, Sule underscored the necessity to combat such behavior in a democracy. She warned of potential recurrence in other regions if left unchecked and pledged to investigate further, having already gathered information from Makrand Patil and planning to contact Shambhuraj Desai personally.

The nationwide discourse surrounding the Satara incident intensified as reports indicated that Guardian Minister Shambhuraj Desai was reportedly attacked by BJP ministers. In response, Shiv Sena MLAs protested, with Sule expressing shock at Desai’s statements in the Legislature. Sule called for a thorough investigation, emphasizing the importance of upholding constitutional values over personal interests.
