Surat district authorities swiftly distributed Rs 1.5 crore in flood relief to 2,500 affected families within two days. Survey teams are actively assessing losses in waterlogged areas across six talukas of the city. The assistance, comprising cash doles and household aid, has already reached the families, with ongoing surveys to cover more affected areas.

Efforts are underway to address financial losses of businesses impacted by the floods. A meeting with insurance companies was held to expedite compensation claims for traders. An online grievance portal for traders and agencies will soon be launched to streamline complaint resolutions.

District Collector Tejas Parmar emphasized fair pricing post-flood, warning against overcharging. Strict legal action awaits any individual or shop found exploiting the situation by charging excessive rates during this challenging period.
