Surat district authorities have mobilized 227 government officials and employees into 41 teams to conduct immediate door-to-door assessments in flood-hit regions of the city. The initiative, led by Surat District Collector Tejas Parmar, aims to evaluate damages caused by creek flooding and waterlogging across various parts of the city. The survey focuses on identifying cases of casualties, injuries, and property loss to facilitate the distribution of government aid, including cash relief, household support, and clothing assistance.
The survey teams consist of 22 Class I and Class II officers, along with Deputy Mamlatdars, Revenue Talatis, coordinators, and other personnel. A total of 227 officers and employees from different service classes are distributed across the 41 teams, instructed to commence work promptly in coordination with the Mamlatdars of their designated talukas. By Friday afternoon, relief payments totaling Rs 35.21 lakh had been disbursed to 1,185 beneficiaries, with cash doles amounting to Rs 11 lakh already distributed to 701 affected residents in various areas.
The administration ensures that aid is promptly released upon completion of surveys. In different areas like Limbayat, Puna, Majura, and Udhna, teams are conducting detailed assessments and distributing relief to eligible residents. The survey work is efficiently divided among senior officers overseeing specific regions and neighborhoods. Additional personnel will be deployed as needed to ensure comprehensive survey coverage and timely relief distribution to all affected residents.
