Officials in Surat confiscated 2,029 kilograms of adulterated ghee and apprehended two individuals following a raid on a manufacturing unit in the Sachin GIDC area. The operation, part of a targeted crackdown on food adulteration, was conducted by the Special Operations Group (SOG) under “Operation Shuddhi” after receiving specific information about the sale of fake ghee in the city.
Multiple teams were mobilized based on the received intelligence, utilizing technical surveillance and human sources to identify the culprits. A raid was then executed at a factory named ‘Sabka Foods’ in the Sachin GIDC area and a godown in Talangpor of Choryasi taluka. The seized items included adulterated ghee valued at Rs 14,19,960, along with machinery, raw materials, and other goods worth Rs 21,61,570, totaling Rs 36,36,530.
Cash, mobile phones, and the accused, identified as Bharat Polara, 48, and Amin Vadhwaniya, 45, both businessmen, were apprehended from the factory. The Sachin GIDC police station has registered a case against them for their involvement in the adulteration scheme.
