The Surat Police successfully located and reunited 696 missing individuals, among them 257 children, with their families over a four-month period through ‘Operation Muskaan’. This operation involved a comprehensive re-investigation of missing cases spanning 18 years, conducted by the Missing Cell of Surat Crime Branch.
Led by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the police team’s efforts received appreciation for their dedication and commitment. Under the guidance of State Director General of Police K.L.N. Rao and Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot, the operation utilized specialized teams and various investigative techniques to trace missing persons across different states and districts.
The initiative, which included cases dating back to 2022 and 2025, saw the successful reunion of 114 boys, 143 girls, 255 women, and 184 men with their respective families. Through meticulous review of old case records and enhanced coordination, the operation highlighted the significance of persistent follow-up in resolving missing persons cases.
