Surat’s textile industry is set to grow by adding 10,000 to 15,000 new air-jet loom machines in the upcoming year. This move aims to enhance the city’s global textile manufacturing status through technological advancements, value addition, and export-oriented strategies. Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi made this announcement at the Secure Airjet Weavers Association’s event in Surat.
The expansion plan will complement the existing 30,000 modern air jet loom machines in Surat, leading to increased production and the creation of new job opportunities. Sanghavi expressed confidence in Surat becoming the global leader in operational air jet machines within the next five years, highlighting the natural business acumen of Gujaratis.
Emphasizing the importance of sustainable and high-quality products for international competitiveness, Sanghavi encouraged textile manufacturers to focus on value addition. He praised Surat’s textile entrepreneurs for their continuous adoption of new technologies, which has helped the city maintain its prominence in the sector. The Deputy Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting the industry, ensuring that weavers benefit from various schemes and incentives.
Sanghavi also outlined the state’s efforts to boost export promotion and cluster development to expand the international market for Surat’s textiles. He acknowledged the significant contributions of workers and entrepreneurs from across the country who have settled in Surat, playing a vital role in the city’s economic progress and job creation. The government’s initiatives, including financial support under the Textile Policy and improvements in administrative efficiency, aim to further enhance the textile sector’s growth in Gujarat.
