The suspect involved in the rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl managed to escape from police custody, only to be discovered dead in a lake in Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district. Identified as Kulavardhan, aged 30, his body was found in Kanasanipalli village Kuralabalakota mandal. The District Superintendent of Police, K. Dheeraj, revealed that the accused fled while being transported in a police vehicle and was later found deceased in the lake by authorities.
Locals stumbled upon the body and promptly alerted the police, leading to the body being transferred to a government hospital in Madanapalle town for a post-mortem examination. The preliminary investigation indicated that the suspect likely died by suicide. Earlier, the body of the young victim was discovered in a drum at Kulavardhan’s residence. The tragic incident sparked public outrage, with demands for justice echoing throughout the community.
The child, a second-grade student and daughter of a local handloom worker, had gone missing on a holiday. Concerned parents initiated a search upon their return, eventually involving the police. As the investigation unfolded, it was revealed that the accused, Kulavardhan, had a criminal past. Despite efforts to apprehend him, he managed to escape while being transferred to a police station, intensifying the gravity of the situation.
