Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as an “infiltrator” at an Eid event in Kolkata. Adhikari expressed disapproval, stating that such remarks were inappropriate and constituted a misuse of a religious platform.
During the Eid celebrations at Red Road, Mamata Banerjee launched a strong verbal attack on the BJP and PM Modi, reaffirming her support for the people of West Bengal. Adhikari emphasized that PM Modi represents all citizens, regardless of their religious affiliations, and denounced the reference to him as an infiltrator.
Adhikari highlighted a perceived “wave of change” in the state, asserting that it is irreversible. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP-led Central government of trying to disenfranchise voters through the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections.
Several states, including Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, are gearing up for elections in April. The first phase of Assembly polls in West Bengal is scheduled for April 23, with the second phase following on April 29. Vote counting for all elections is slated for May 4.
