Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, kicked off his campaign in the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency in south Kolkata. Adhikari, contesting from both Bhabanipur and Nandigram, noted a visible panic in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s demeanor regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Starting his campaign at the Kalighat Kali temple, near the Chief Minister’s residence, Adhikari engaged with the media, highlighting the perceived anxiety and fear in Banerjee’s body language. He remarked on the public’s ability to discern these emotions.
Adhikari emphasized the BJP’s serious intent to challenge Banerjee by fielding him in Bhabanipur. He affirmed his allegiance to the party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticizing Banerjee for politicizing the Eid festival earlier in the day.
