Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, met Governor R.N. Ravi to address the breach of protocol during President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit. Adhikari urged action against Chief Secretary Nandini Chakraborty and acting Director General of Police Peeyush Pandey for failing to follow protocol.
Adhikari expressed concern over the disrespect shown during the President’s visit, stating that the state’s democratic pillars are at risk. He emphasized the need to uphold constitutional and democratic procedures in West Bengal and briefed the Governor on the situation.
Adhikari, who missed Ravi’s oath ceremony due to prior commitments in New Delhi, assured the Governor of his cooperation for the state’s development and law enforcement. He presented the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita to the Governor and wished him a successful tenure.
R.N. Ravi took over as the 22nd Governor of West Bengal after the sudden resignation of C.V. Ananda Bose. Ravi, a former Intelligence Bureau officer, succeeded Bose and arrived in Kolkata to assume his new role.
