Panic struck Patna as a tailor was reportedly murdered in broad daylight, his throat slit by a man who was apprehended within two hours of the incident. The tragic event unfolded at Bangali Tola Mod near Vivekananda Colony, under the Chowk police station’s jurisdiction, and was captured on CCTV cameras. The victim, identified as Mohammad Raees, was en route to his shop when the attack occurred around 11 a.m., causing tension in the area.
The accused, Mohammad Ayaz, initially thought to be on the run, was swiftly captured within two hours of the crime. SDPO-2 of Patna City, Gaurav Kumar, confirmed the arrest, attributing the incident to a personal family dispute. He revealed that the victim’s nephew, Mohammad Ayaz, was behind the attack, with CCTV footage aiding in the identification of the culprit. Acting on the Patna SSP’s orders, a specialized team was assembled, leading to the arrest of the main suspect within a short timeframe.
Gaurav Kumar, the SDPO, mentioned that the weapon purportedly used in the crime was confiscated. The accused, in his initial statement to the police, claimed that the incident was fueled by anger stemming from a family matter. Allegedly, the accused’s wife had been mistreated by the deceased, provoking him to commit the crime. However, the veracity of this statement is under investigation. The police retrieved the body for a post-mortem examination at Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) and have filed a murder case against the perpetrator. An FSL team has been summoned to gather forensic evidence from the crime scene, with ongoing investigations.
