At 37 years old, Devendra Singh Katheit, a left-arm fast bowler for Royal Nimar Eagles, has proven that talent transcends age. Participating in the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) T20 Scindia Cup, Katheit’s return to competitive cricket is a result of the Player Development Programme (PDP) initiated by the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA). This program offers talented cricketers, like Katheit, a second chance to showcase their skills on a significant platform.
Through the PDP, two players are selected by each MPL franchise after a rigorous scouting process. Katheit seized this opportunity after being away from professional cricket for years, expressing his excitement at playing in the MPL as a dream come true. He emphasized the invaluable support received from coaches, teammates, and senior players, which helped him regain confidence in his abilities.
Katheit acknowledged the Player Development Programme for providing a gateway for players who missed earlier career opportunities, emphasizing the importance of perseverance in his comeback. His debut in the MPL was an emotional moment as his family witnessed his return to competitive cricket, cheering him on from the stands. He commended the MPL and the PDP for reigniting players’ cricketing ambitions and offering a platform to dream and excel once again.
