Veteran Tamil filmmaker S.A. Chandrashekhar, father of actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, expressed joy as his son garnered the backing of 120 MLAs to claim the next Tamil Nadu government. This development is a significant milestone for Vijay, whose party emerged as the largest in the recent Assembly elections. With key post-poll alliances forming, Vijay is now closer to leading the state government.
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) have extended their support to Vijay, aiding his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), in comfortably surpassing the majority mark. Vijay now has the support of 120 MLAs, including members from various allied parties. The recent political activities in Tamil Nadu have seen a surge in support for Vijay’s government formation bid.
The TVK emerged victorious in the Assembly elections, securing the most seats. However, after Vijay decided to retain only one constituency, the party’s effective strength reduced. Following the election results, a flurry of political engagements unfolded in Chennai, with various parties endorsing Vijay’s leadership. Vijay is now set to meet the Governor to stake his claim for government formation.
