Tamil Nadu is eagerly awaiting the Union Budget, hoping for new announcements to boost infrastructure, enhance manufacturing, and advance urban development. The State, known for its industrial and export prominence, seeks budgetary support for industrial corridors, port connectivity, logistics, and urban infrastructure projects. Previous budget allocations, like the Rs 1.03 lakh crore for road and highway projects in 2021, influence the State’s expectations.
Political observers anticipate development-oriented schemes in the upcoming budget, especially with Assembly elections approaching in five States, including Tamil Nadu. There is speculation that parts of the Budget speech might be in Tamil, potentially carrying political and cultural significance. Industries in Tamil Nadu are looking for incentives to support manufacturing, exports, and technology-driven growth, aiming to solidify the State’s position as a hub for manufacturing, logistics, and innovation.
Despite falling on a Sunday this year, the Union Budget will proceed as scheduled, reflecting its significance. The Mumbai Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange will remain open for trading on this special day. The Budget, aligned with the long-term vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ to develop India by its centenary of Independence, is expected to focus on key sectors such as railways, infrastructure, urban development, manufacturing, and more. This year’s Budget is anticipated to give equal importance to both policy initiatives and taxation, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set to present it for a record ninth time.
