Tamil Nadu BJP Spokesperson, A.N.S. Prasad, criticized DMK Rajya Sabha MP Salma for her alleged comments on a recent geopolitical issue. Prasad accused Salma of undermining India’s sovereignty and global reputation with her statements. The controversy arose from Salma’s remarks hinting at Pakistan’s involvement in a recent conflict de-escalation and mentioning “Vishwaguru.”

Prasad condemned Salma’s comments as irresponsible and called for immediate action by the Tamil Nadu Police, including filing a case and conducting a thorough investigation. He advocated for invoking strict legal measures like the National Security Act, citing potential harm to national interests. Additionally, Prasad demanded that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin address the issue and take disciplinary measures against Salma.

The BJP spokesperson criticized the DMK for engaging in what he termed as divisive rhetoric for political gain during the election period. He also pointed out a lack of understanding in Salma’s remarks regarding the sensitive geopolitical situation in West Asia, especially concerning tensions with Iran. Prasad cautioned that such statements could distort India’s diplomatic position and weaken its credibility globally.

Highlighting the Prime Minister’s efforts to ease tensions and promote peace through global engagements, Prasad emphasized the importance of preserving India’s image as a responsible global player. He stressed that domestic political discourse should not undermine the country’s standing on the international stage. The issue has sparked heightened political debates in Tamil Nadu as parties intensify their campaigning.
