Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will inaugurate 300 newly acquired diesel and CNG buses for the state’s transport corporations at a ceremony in Chennai. These buses will be added to the public transport fleet, benefiting various regions of the state. The fleet includes buses for seven out of the eight state-owned transport corporations in Tamil Nadu.
The new buses will enhance public transport services and connectivity for daily commuters across urban and rural areas. They signify the government’s push to modernize public transportation. The induction aims to replace old vehicles, ensuring safer and more comfortable passenger services.
Initially planned for June 22, the bus launch was rescheduled to coincide with an event on Thursday. Transport department officials will allocate the buses based on operational needs and passenger demand. The phased deployment of these buses across districts will improve existing services and fleet availability.
This initiative aligns with Tamil Nadu’s strategy to upgrade the public transport network, enhance commuter experience, and boost accessibility through a modernized fleet. It will help meet rising passenger demand and enhance the efficiency of bus operations statewide.
