Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will mark his 52nd birthday on Monday, the first since taking office. Supporters in various districts of Tamil Nadu are already celebrating the occasion with enthusiasm. Vijay, a former popular actor in Tamil cinema, entered politics by launching his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), on February 2, 2024.
The actor-turned-politician gained attention through large party conferences held in Vikravandi and Madurai, showcasing his growing political influence. Vijay’s party, TVK, drew inspiration from prominent figures like Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, K. Kamaraj, Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Rani Velu Nachiyar, and Anjalai Ammal for its ideological foundation. Within two years of formation, TVK independently contested elections and secured a place in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Campaigning under the “Whistle” symbol, Vijay’s message of public service resonated widely, especially among young voters. This led to a successful election outcome, transitioning Vijay from a film star to a political leader. Sworn in as Chief Minister on May 10, Vijay recently completed his first month in office.
As the Assembly session continues, legislators are expected to extend birthday wishes to Vijay on Monday. Speculation is rife that Vijay might use the occasion to announce new policies. To celebrate his birthday, TVK units have organized special prayers, welfare programs, and community service activities across Tamil Nadu, emphasizing a service-oriented approach.
