Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, also the President of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is set to visit Tiruchi on Monday evening. This visit aims to express his gratitude to the voters of the Tiruchi East Assembly constituency, where he was elected in the recent Assembly elections. Vijay, who assumed office on May 10 after leading TVK to victory in the state polls, had contested and won from two constituencies — Chennai Perambur and Tiruchi East.
The Chief Minister decided to retain the Perambur seat post-election and resigned as the MLA from Tiruchi East, leading to a by-election in the constituency. Vijay’s visit to Tiruchi is significant as it marks his first official visit to the city since becoming Chief Minister. The event has sparked enthusiasm among party members and supporters, with senior ministers, TVK legislators, and party officials gearing up to welcome him upon his arrival.
Upon reaching Tiruchi, Vijay will be greeted with a grand reception by party members. He will then proceed in a special motorcade to St. Joseph’s College grounds for a large-scale thanksgiving meeting. A specially designed pavilion has been set up at the venue to accommodate a large number of party workers and supporters. Vijay is expected to address the gathering, expressing gratitude to voters and outlining his government’s priorities.
Elaborate security measures have been implemented for the event, with nearly 2,000 police personnel deployed in and around the venue and along the Chief Minister’s travel route to ensure smooth proceedings. TVK headquarters has issued detailed guidelines for attendees, emphasizing the requirement of QR code-based entry passes for entry. Pregnant women, children, school students, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and those with health conditions have been advised against attending the event in person due to security reasons.
TVK leaders have urged pass holders to cooperate fully with security personnel and organizers to ensure the successful conduct of the Chief Minister’s first public thanksgiving event in Tiruchi.
