The divorce case involving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) President C. Joseph Vijay and his wife Sangeetha was adjourned once more by the Chengalpattu Family Court. Both parties were absent during the hearing, with their lawyers representing them before the court. The judge postponed the case to August 7 due to their non-appearance.
The high-profile matrimonial dispute has faced several delays in recent months, with neither Vijay nor Sangeetha appearing in person during earlier hearings. Requests were made to allow the couple to participate in the proceedings via video conferencing, citing security concerns and logistical issues related to Vijay’s role as Chief Minister.
Sangeetha filed for divorce in December 2025, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking alimony. She also requested permission to continue living in their residence in Neelankarai, Chennai. The case has garnered significant public and political interest given Vijay’s position as a prominent leader. The next steps in the proceedings are expected to be discussed nearly two months later following the recent adjournment.
