Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay traveled to Mangaluru to visit the renowned Kollur Mookambika Temple in Karnataka’s Udupi district. Security measures have been heightened in anticipation of his visit to the temple. CM Vijay is set to offer special prayers at the temple, with Karnataka Police enhancing security in the vicinity and temporarily limiting devotees’ entry until his worship concludes.
Large crowds are expected at the temple due to Vijay’s significant fan base in Karnataka. Security has been increased at Mangaluru International Airport, with personnel from both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Police deployed for his visit. Vijay arrived in Mangaluru from Delhi via a special flight and will proceed to Kollur by road, approximately 125 kilometers away.
The convoy vehicles from Tamil Nadu have already arrived at Mangaluru International Airport, where local police are ensuring security along the 125-kilometer route to Kollur. With the Tamil Nadu government, including CM Joseph Vijay, opposing the Mekedatu project, police are taking precautions. Vijay has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to proceed with the project, leading to concerns of potential protests by pro-Kannada groups against him.
Scheduled to depart for Chennai at 5.30 p.m., Vijay will be accompanied by a close protection group comprising 40 police personnel, including a DIG and SP from Tamil Nadu Police. Previous Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers have also visited Kollur seeking blessings upon assuming office. The Kollur “Shree Kshethram” in Karnataka’s Udupi district is one of the seven abodes of Salvation, established by Adi Shankaracharya, where the Goddess Shakti is revered.
