The Tamil Nadu government has revealed plans to fill 20,449 vacancies in the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) during the current financial year. This recruitment drive aims to enhance the workforce of the state’s electricity utilities and improve power distribution and maintenance services across Tamil Nadu.
Law and Energy Resources Minister C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar announced this initiative in the Assembly to address long-standing staff shortages in various technical and administrative wings of the power utility. The recruitment proposal for the financial year 2026-27 includes the appointment of 15,058 personnel across different categories such as Assistant Engineers, Technical Assistants, Junior Assistants, and Multi-Purpose Field Assistants.
The government also plans to fill 5,391 Gangman posts, which were delayed from 2021 due to pending approval from the Finance Department. Including these appointments, the total number of vacancies to be filled this year amounts to 20,449. This recruitment drive underscores the government’s dedication to fortifying Tamil Nadu’s power infrastructure to meet increasing demand and enhance service delivery.
Officials mentioned that the recruitment process will proceed in phases once all necessary administrative and financial approvals are in place.
