Tamil Nadu Revenue and Disaster Management Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan stated that the state’s proposed identity cards for Classes X and XII students will not feature caste information. The aim is to simplify student records and enhance access to essential data while ensuring schools remain free from caste distinctions.

Sengottaiyan mentioned that the identity cards will include vital information like the student’s address, blood group, Aadhaar details, and educational qualifications. He emphasized that caste-related data will not be part of the cards to prevent discrimination or emotional distress among students.

The Minister highlighted the practical benefits of these cards during emergencies, noting that details like blood group and address can aid authorities in quickly identifying students and providing necessary medical help in unforeseen situations. Officials from the Revenue and School Education departments will soon finalize the implementation details for Classes X and XII students.

Sengottaiyan also addressed safety measures at the Kodiveri dam and the appointment of a Special Representative in New Delhi, emphasizing the commitment to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests in various matters, including inter-state river water disputes.
