Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister K.A. Sengottaiyan clarified his decision to undergo medical treatment at a private hospital despite government hospital norms. Minister Arunraj had previously stated that TVK ministers would use government hospitals for treatment. Sengottaiyan, addressing reporters in Coimbatore, mentioned that his hospital visit was for routine health checks, not for any serious health issues.
He revealed that due to a hectic work schedule, he had missed his regular health check-ups for the past eight months. Sengottaiyan usually undergoes health screenings twice a year but had to catch up on pending evaluations due to work commitments. The Minister stated that all required tests were completed during his recent hospital stay, with doctors confirming satisfactory results.
Responding to criticism for choosing a private hospital over a government facility, Sengottaiyan explained that the hospital he visited was owned by his relatives, where he has always received free treatment. He emphasized that this practice has been ongoing for years. After the medical assessments, he mentioned he was heading to Chennai to resume official duties.
Regarding the recent Coimbatore girl murder case and welfare schemes, the Minister assured that legal actions were in progress. He added that decisions on future schemes would be made by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay based on the government’s financial situation.
