Tamil Nadu Revenue Minister Sengottaiyan emphasized Tamil Nadu’s stance against Karnataka’s proposed Mekedatu reservoir project, ensuring Karnataka’s inability to proceed with the plan. He stated firmly that not a single brick would be laid for the Mekedatu dam under Chief Minister Vijay’s leadership.
Addressing various issues, Sengottaiyan highlighted Tamil Nadu’s opposition to NEET, the proposed metro rail projects in Coimbatore and Madurai, the AIADMK MLA disqualification matter, and the upcoming State Budget. He commended Chief Minister Vijay for his governance and commitment to enhancing infrastructure development in Tamil Nadu.
The minister mentioned the state government’s efforts to bring metro rail projects to Coimbatore and Madurai to enhance urban transportation and cater to the cities’ evolving requirements. Seeking approval and support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for these projects, he emphasized the Chief Minister’s dedication to ensuring balanced progress throughout Tamil Nadu.
Regarding the disqualification issue involving four AIADMK MLAs, Sengottaiyan disclosed that a request had been made for a direct inquiry in the presence of AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami. He expressed confidence in the Speaker’s ability to make a fair decision after reviewing the case.
