Tamil Nadu’s opener S.R. Athish played an impressive inning, scoring 88 runs, leading his team’s pursuit of victory against Odisha in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 at the KIIT Stadium. Athish, who struggled in the first innings, showed more confidence in his second knock. Sonu Yadav’s quick 74 runs supported Tamil Nadu, setting Odisha a challenging target of 455 runs.

In another match in Anantapur, Andhra positioned themselves well for the quarterfinals, finishing the day at 93/1 against Vidarbha. Andhra requires 166 more runs for victory with K.S. Bharat and Shaik Rasheed holding the crease with an unbroken 78-run partnership. Vidarbha, the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy champions, fell short in their second innings, being dismissed for 191 runs.

Andhra’s bowlers, led by K. Saiteja’s four wickets, dominated the game. Nitish Kumar Reddy, Saurabh Kumar, and Tripurana Vijay also contributed crucial wickets. With a strong start to their chase, Andhra seems confident in their ability to achieve the target on the final day. Meanwhile, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh struggled, ending the day at 69/7, trailing Jharkhand by 316 runs.
