Senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan criticized the ruling DMK for lacking unity within its alliance in Tamil Nadu while questioning their ability to criticize PM Modi’s international engagements. She accused the DMK of double standards during a press interaction at the Chennai airport. Soundararajan highlighted the DMK’s failure to maintain unity while scrutinizing the Prime Minister’s global interactions.
Her comments come amidst escalating political tensions between the BJP and the DMK regarding foreign policy and Centre-State relations. Soundararajan also criticized the State’s Interim Budget for 2026–27, labeling it as lacking substance and accused the DMK government of using it to blame the Union government. She pointed out the disparity in infrastructure allocations between the Centre and Tamil Nadu.
Soundararajan further criticized the Budget for not addressing key demands of the farming community, such as the absence of announcements on paddy and sugarcane prices and farm loan waivers. She expressed disappointment that the Budget did not outline concrete development schemes directly benefiting the people, asserting that Tamil Nadu would not benefit from it.
Highlighting the BJP’s preparations for the 2026 Assembly elections, Soundararajan mentioned that the party’s manifesto committee would engage with farmers in delta districts to understand their demands transparently. She alleged growing dissatisfaction within the ruling alliance, claiming that even the DMK’s allies lacked confidence in the government, indicating potential cracks in the coalition.
