Hollywood actress Taraji P. Henson and social media influencer Meredith Lynch have expressed disappointment with the stars who attended this year’s Met Gala. The criticism stems from the event’s sponsorship by honorary co-chairs Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos. Lynch, in an Instagram video, cautioned celebrities against wearing “ICE Out” pins to the “Jeff Bezos-backed” gala, citing Bezos’s support for Trump’s presidency and arts funding cuts. Despite acknowledging the Met Gala’s charitable donations, Lynch found it contradictory that Bezos, a Trump supporter, was a sponsor.
Henson, echoing Lynch’s sentiments, questioned the participation of certain individuals at the event, expressing confusion and concern. She also shared a post on her Instagram Stories criticizing Bezos for owning a $500 million superyacht while Amazon workers endure challenging work conditions, low pay, and high injury rates. The Met Gala 2026, themed “Costume Art” with a dress code of “Fashion Is Art,” showcased celebrities interpreting fashion as a unique art form through sculptural designs, body-focused outfits, and innovative materials.
