The Confederation of Indian Industry’s National Council, in a recent meeting, appointed R. Mukundan, the Managing Director & CEO of Tata Chemicals Ltd, as the President for 2026-27, succeeding Rajiv Memani. Mukundan, with over three decades of experience at the Tata Group, has served in various roles within the chemical, automotive, and hospitality sectors. He began his journey with the Tata Administrative Service in 1990 post completing an MBA from FMS, Delhi University, and holds distinctions like being an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and a Fellow of the Indian Chemical Society.
Suchitra K Ella, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bharat Biotech International Ltd, will take on the role of CII President-Designate for 2026-27. Dr. Ella, who played a pivotal role in establishing Bharat Biotech in 1996, has been actively involved in setting up several ventures in areas like veterinary sciences, agri-biotech parks, and food processing over the last decade. She has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the Padma Bhushan in 2022 and the SAARC Women’s Award in Colombo.
Shashwat Goenka, the Vice Chairman of RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, has been appointed as the CII Vice President for 2026-27. A graduate of St Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Goenka is known for his leadership and innovative contributions. He has been honored with titles like Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and has received accolades such as the Hurun India Next Gen Leader of the Year.
