Tata Electronics and Japan-based ROHM Co have announced a strategic partnership to produce semiconductors in India for both local and global markets. Initially, the collaboration will focus on establishing a manufacturing setup for power semiconductors in India. This venture will leverage ROHM’s advanced device technologies along with Tata Electronics’ expertise in semiconductor assembly and testing. Tata Electronics will provide chip packaging services to support ROHM in developing products tailored for Indian and global markets. The partnership also aims to enhance business opportunities in India by utilizing the sales channels of both companies, delivering high-value semiconductor solutions to various sectors. Tata Electronics will be responsible for assembling and testing ROHM’s India-designed automotive-grade N-channel 100V, 300A silicon MOSFET in a TOLL package, with plans for mass production next year. Future plans include exploring high-value packaging technologies and jointly marketing semiconductor products in India and overseas markets. Kazuhide Ino from ROHM expressed that this collaboration will expand ROHM’s range of packaged products made in India and contribute to building a sustainable semiconductor supply chain in the region.
