Tata Motors, a prominent automobile company, is setting its sights on selling more than one million commercial vehicles annually in the near future. The company’s Chairman, N. Chandrasekaran, revealed this goal during the second annual general meeting after the commercial vehicle business was demerged and listed separately. Chandrasekaran emphasized that the potential integration of Italy’s Iveco Group would greatly boost Tata Motors’ global aspirations.
The combined business is projected to kick off with approximately 600,000 commercial vehicle sales, positioning Tata Motors as one of the world’s top four commercial vehicle manufacturers. The acquisition of Iveco, subject to regulatory approvals, is anticipated to be finalized by the second quarter of the current fiscal year. Chandrasekaran highlighted that this deal would grant Tata Motors access to advanced technologies, enhance its manufacturing capabilities, and expand its international presence significantly.
Furthermore, Tata Motors aims to optimize, expand, and solidify its position among the top four global commercial vehicle entities. These expansion plans follow Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles’ robust financial performance post the demerger in November 2025. The company is diversifying its revenue streams by reducing reliance on the cyclical truck business and focusing on higher-margin and stable income sources. Notably, non-cyclical segments like spares and services witnessed an 18.2% growth in FY26, while international operations surged over 50% during the same period due to enhanced market penetration and substantial order wins.
