Tata Sons’ Executive Chairman N Chandrasekaran received a total remuneration of Rs 158.6 crore in FY26, the highest since the company began disclosing directors’ pay. This sum comprised Rs 17.9 crore in salary and allowances, with the rest, Rs 140.7 crore, as commission. Over the last five financial years, Chandrasekaran’s cumulative remuneration has now reached approximately Rs 685 crore.

Chandrasekaran’s FY26 remuneration constituted nearly 80% of all Tata Sons directors’ pay for that year. Despite being among India’s top-paid corporate leaders, his FY26 earnings fell short of the Rs 176 crore earned by HCLTech CEO C Vijayakumar in the same period.

The disclosed figures underscore the consistent rise in Chandrasekaran’s annual pay in recent years. His earnings stood at Rs 155 crore in FY25 and Rs 134.8 crore in FY24, with FY26 marking the peak in this five-year span. This revelation precedes Tata Sons’ upcoming annual general meeting, where crucial resolutions will be put to vote by shareholders.

Tata Sons’ Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director, Saurabh Agrawal, was the second-highest-paid executive in FY26, with a total remuneration of Rs 34 crore, including Rs 26 crore as commission. Besides Chandrasekaran and Agrawal, the remaining seven board members did not receive any remuneration. However, six of them were compensated with commissions ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 3 crore. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman Emeritus of TVS Motor Company, was the sole board member not receiving any remuneration or commission.
