Teenage South African bowler Kwena Maphaka played a crucial role in his team’s five-wicket triumph over Zimbabwe in the Men’s T20 World Cup. Maphaka’s impressive spell of 2-21 included the key wicket of Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza. He attributed his success to accurate bowling and varying his pace effectively.

Maphaka, who was filling in for rested senior players, showcased his talent with both new and old balls. The young cricketer expressed gratitude for the learning opportunities provided by the experienced players in the team. He particularly highlighted the significance of mastering the art of bowling slower deliveries.

Learning from seasoned bowlers like Lungi Ngidi, Maphaka emphasized the importance of understanding when to use different types of deliveries. Despite the intense competition within the South African pace bowling group, Maphaka viewed the experience as a privilege and a valuable learning opportunity.

The talented teenager acknowledged his growth both on and off the field since his international debut at 18. Maphaka’s mental and physical development over the past two years has been instrumental in his progress as a cricketer. As South Africa remains unbeaten in the tournament, Maphaka maintains a focused and grounded approach towards the upcoming semi-final clash.
