Leader of the Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, claimed that Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, stepped down from his position as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) due to pressure from the BJP. Tejashwi expressed that while it is common for a leader to resign from a previous post upon election to another legislative body, Nitish Kumar’s case seems different.
Tejashwi alleged that the decision was not merely procedural but made under duress, indicating that BJP leaders misled both Nitish Kumar and the public. He further stated that during the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, his party had warned about the BJP sidelining Nitish Kumar if the NDA won, a prediction now seemingly realized.
Tejashwi criticized the ruling alliance for allegedly deceiving voters with unfulfilled promises, citing instances like inadequate distribution of livelihood support funds and high electricity tariffs despite claims of free electricity. He also raised concerns about inflation, particularly regarding essential commodities’ escalating prices and the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar.
