Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, condemned the Nitish Kumar-led government for the increasing incidents of crimes against women and children in Bihar. He criticized the government’s handling of law and order, highlighting numerous cases of rape, murder, and assaults on minors across different districts. Tejashwi accused the authorities of providing political shelter to criminals, calling out the Prime Minister and central leadership for their silence on the matter.
Tejashwi Yadav pointed out specific cases, such as the brutal rape of an 18-month-old girl in Saharsa and the rape and murder of a young girl in Darbhanga. He also mentioned incidents like a gang-rape in Saran, an assault on a woman in Patna, and the tragic death of a NEET aspirant in a Patna hostel. Tejashwi questioned the government’s claims of maintaining “zero tolerance” towards crime, emphasizing the ongoing violence against women and children in the state.
The opposition leader challenged the Bihar government’s competence in addressing these crimes, urging them to provide answers and justice to the victims and their families. He highlighted the failure of local investigative bodies in resolving cases, leading to public outcry and demands for further investigations. Tejashwi’s strong criticism underscored the urgent need for improved safety measures and effective law enforcement to protect vulnerable individuals in Bihar.
