Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, criticized the Bihar government for suspending a police officer over the alleged use of an AK-47 rifle during the recent ‘Bihar Bandh’ protests in Siwan district. Yadav described the suspension as a mere symbolic gesture and called for accountability from the state authorities. He questioned the decision-making process behind using such force during the protests, emphasizing the need for transparency and responsibility.

Yadav further raised concerns about the state administration’s role in the incident, demanding answers from the Superintendent of Police, the Home Ministry, and the Chief Minister. He highlighted the need for clarity on the detention of students, the use of force against them, and the overall handling of the situation. According to Yadav, the suspension of one police personnel was an attempt to deflect attention from higher-ranking officials who may have been involved in ordering the firing.

Comparing the incident to the farmers’ protest, Yadav accused the government of misleading students and criticized its lack of credibility. He expressed disappointment in the government’s actions, alleging a pattern of deception and a disregard for democratic principles. Yadav also expressed confidence in his party’s chances in the upcoming Bankipur Assembly by-election, highlighting the need for change and accountability in Bihar’s governance.
