Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to utilize government-owned unused lands for constructing Indiramma houses in the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) zone. The review of the Indiramma urban housing scheme involved identifying unused lands owned by various government departments within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. Lands owned by the Police, Revenue, and Transport departments will be used for the housing scheme, with alternative arrangements provided to these departments in other locations.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of constructing Indiramma houses near residential areas to ensure better access to employment and livelihood opportunities for the residents. He highlighted that houses built far from residential areas remained unused, stressing the need to build them closer to workplaces within residential zones. The State government’s plan includes constructing approximately 7,680 flats in the first phase across 17 constituencies within the CURE area.
Plans for the construction of ‘Indiramma’ houses are underway in various constituencies, including Rajendranagar, Maheshwaram, Serilingampally, and others. The Chief Minister urged officials to expedite the identification of unused government lands in these constituencies. The review meeting included the participation of Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with other senior officials from different departments.
