The Congress government in Telangana is set to name a road in Hyderabad after US President Donald Trump, sparking criticism from BRS leader Dasoju Sravan Kumar. In an open letter to Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition, Kumar accused the Congress of political hypocrisy.
Kumar raised concerns about the party’s stance on Trump, highlighting a perceived contradiction between Delhi’s sovereignty rhetoric and Hyderabad’s road-naming decision. He questioned whether the Congress has shifted from national ideology to private franchisee politics under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s leadership in Telangana.
Highlighting a disconnect between the party’s central leadership and state-level actions, Kumar emphasized the clash between the Congress’ preached ideological principles and its current political maneuvers in Telangana. He pointed out the discrepancy between the AICC’s official policy positions and the actions of Revanth Reddy’s government in naming a road after Trump.
On June 23, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is scheduled to inaugurate ‘Donald Trump Avenue’ in Hyderabad’s Financial District, near the US Consulate. This move has raised questions of political inconsistency, with Kumar calling out the perceived hypocrisy and urging clarity from the Congress leadership.
