Hyderabad, Aug 3 (IANS) The government of Telangana on Monday reviewed the arrangements for the State-level Independence Day celebrations to be held on August 15 at the historic Golconda Fort in Hyderabad.

Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju conducted a high-level coordination meeting with senior officials at the Secretariat to take stock of the preparations for the ceremony to be held at Rani Mahal Lawns of Golconda Fort.

The Chief Secretary said that the Independence Day celebrations are among the most significant official events of the State and should be organised with meticulous planning, seamless coordination and utmost dignity, befitting the spirit of the nation’s freedom.

He informed the officials that, as part of the Independence Day programme, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will first pay floral tributes to the martyrs at the Veerula Sainik Smarak at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad. Thereafter, the Chief Minister will proceed to the Rani Mahal Lawns, Golconda Fort, where he will participate in the State-level Independence Day celebrations, unfurl the National Flag, inspect the ceremonial parade and address the gathering.

The Chief Secretary directed all departments concerned to make elaborate and foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of the celebrations. He stressed that every aspect of the event, including security, traffic regulation, venue readiness, public convenience and emergency response, should be planned well in advance to ensure a flawless execution of the programme.

Sanjay Jaju instructed the Roads & Buildings Department to complete all venue-related infrastructure works, including the stage, seating arrangements, barricading, approach roads and other civil works within the stipulated time. The Police Department was directed to make comprehensive security and traffic management arrangements, while ensuring smooth movement of dignitaries and participants.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation was instructed to maintain cleanliness in and around the venue, undertake landscaping, sanitation and beautification works.

The Health Department was directed to deploy adequate medical teams, ambulances and first-aid facilities at strategic locations, while the Fire Services Department was asked to position fire tenders and emergency response teams at the venue as a precautionary measure.

The Energy Department was instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply with adequate backup arrangements throughout the event. Other line departments were also directed to discharge their responsibilities efficiently and complete all assigned works well ahead of the celebrations.

Emphasising the importance of inter-departmental coordination, the Chief Secretary instructed all departments to work in close coordination. He said every effort should be made to ensure that the celebrations are conducted in a grand, dignified and befitting manner.
