A city court in Hyderabad has ordered Mutyam Venkata Ramana, a Divisional Engineer at TGREDCO, to be held in judicial custody for 14 days due to allegations of possessing disproportionate assets. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested him and presented him before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases. Following the court’s decision, he was transferred to Chanchalguda Central Jail.

The ACB’s arrest of Venkata Ramana came after raids were conducted at his home, office, and seven other locations associated with his family, friends, and alleged benami holders. The searches revealed various assets, including residential flats and commercial buildings in different areas, along with significant amounts of cash, gold ornaments, vehicles, and other valuables. The total value of the assets uncovered was estimated at Rs 27.65 crore.

This is not the first time Venkata Ramana has faced legal trouble. He was previously arrested in December 2019 for alleged bribery charges. The ACB stated that the total value of assets linked to him, combining the previous case and the recent searches, amounts to Rs 28.14 crore. Investigations have shown substantial investments made through construction firms owned by his wife, including the construction of residential apartments.

During the recent searches, ACB officials also seized a quantity of liquor bottles, leading to a separate case being registered by the Madhapur Excise Department.
