The Telangana government, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, will transfer Rs 9,000 crore to farmers’ bank accounts within nine days through the Rythu Bharosa scheme. This initiative aims to support farmers during the ongoing drought conditions caused by insufficient rainfall. The Chief Minister urged farmers to cultivate specific high-yielding paddy varieties recommended by the state government to enhance agricultural productivity.
A significant allocation of funds has been earmarked for the Rythu Bharosa scheme to ensure financial assistance reaches farmers promptly. Additionally, the government has facilitated the availability of fine variety paddy seeds at designated ‘Rythu Vedikas’ or farmers’ platforms. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted various measures undertaken by the government to benefit farmers, including the waiver of loans amounting to Rs 20,000 crore for over 25 lakh farmers.
Under the Rythu Bharosa scheme, the government has increased the financial support to Rs 12,000 per farmer, with a total disbursement of Rs 27,000 crore to date. Notably, a cumulative amount of Rs 36,000 crore has been allocated under this scheme, with an immediate release of Rs 7,000 crore upon assuming office. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare, citing an expenditure of Rs 1,75,000 crore thus far, translating to Rs 6,000 crore monthly.
