In a significant development for candidates chosen by the Telangana State Public Service Commission for Group-1 posts, the Telangana High Court overturned a single judge’s decision that had invalidated the results and merit list. The High Court’s division bench, comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, issued this ruling in response to petitions filed by the TGPSC and selected candidates contesting the single judge’s order by Justice Namavarapu Rajeshwar Rao. The single judge had earlier on September 9, 2025, instructed the TGPSC to re-evaluate all answer scripts or conduct fresh exams within eight months due to perceived flaws in the evaluation process.
The division bench’s decision effectively halted the directive for re-evaluation, allowing the TGPSC to proceed with appointing successful candidates for Group-I posts based on the existing results. However, the appointments are contingent upon the final ruling. Following this interim order, the TGPSC released a list of provisionally selected candidates based on the General Ranking List announced on March 30, 2025. Out of the 563 Group-I posts for which the Main examination took place from October 21 to October 27, 2024, the Commission announced selected candidates for 562 posts, reserving one post in compliance with a High Court directive.
The High Court’s decision comes after a series of legal battles and controversies surrounding the Group-1 exams, including issues of paper leaks and irregularities in previous years. This recent ruling by the division bench marks a crucial juncture in the selection process for these coveted government positions in Telangana.
