Telangana Jagruthi President K. Kavitha expressed disappointment over the defeat of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. She criticized both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for engaging in a blame game following the bill’s failure. Kavitha emphasized the setback for women’s empowerment in India due to this event.
Kavitha held the ruling NDA alliance and the Opposition accountable for the bill’s defeat. She highlighted the lack of proportional representation of women in India’s Parliament and assemblies despite their significant role in the country’s freedom movement. The President of Telangana Jagruthi urged women to continue participating in elections despite obstacles.
Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra accused the BJP of failing to implement the Women’s Reservation Bill, which was passed in 2023. She alleged that the BJP disguised the Delimitation Bill as the Women’s Reservation Bill. Additionally, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav criticized the BJP for not providing reservation to OBC, minority, and Dalit women, emphasizing the need for inclusive representation.
