There are 52.43 lakh voters in 118 municipalities and five municipal corporations in Telangana, as per the final voter list released by the State Election Commission. These municipalities and corporations encompass a total of 2,996 wards. The voter count includes 25,62,369 men, 26,80,014 women, and 640 others.

In preparation for the upcoming municipal elections, the Election Commission has organized and verified voters municipality-wise. The five municipal corporations in Telangana are Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar, Mancherial, and Ramagundam. Nizamabad Municipal Corporation leads with 3,48,051 voters across 60 wards, followed by Karimnagar with 3,40,580 voters in 66 wards, and Mahabubnagar with 1,97,841 voters in 60 wards.

Mancherial Municipal Corporation has 1,81,778 voters, while Ramagundam Municipal Corporation has 1,83,049 voters across 60 wards. Adilabad municipality boasts the highest voter count at 1,43,655, while Amarachinta municipality in Wanaparthy district has the lowest with 9,147 voters. The urban local bodies’ elections are expected to take place next month for those municipalities and corporations whose term ended in July 2025.

The Election Commission has yet to confirm voters in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Khammam and Warangal corporations, as their terms conclude later. GHMC’s term ends in February, while Khammam and Warangal corporations’ terms end in April. State Election Commissioner Rani Kumudini recently met with recognized political parties to prepare for the municipal polls.

The reservation of wards and divisions in municipalities and corporations will be determined based on population before the municipal elections. Officials are prioritizing reservation as a critical issue before the notification release. The polling station list and polling station-wise photo electoral rolls will be available on January 16 at various offices including Collectors’, Municipal Commissioners’ Offices, DEAs, RDO, and Tahsildars’ offices.
